Combined anterior pituitary and neurohypophyseal insufficiency; studies of body fluid spaces and renal function.

چکیده
Lesions of the neurohypophysis resulting in deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) produce the clinical syndrome of diabetes insipidus, provided the anterior pituitary is functionally intact. If the anterior lobe is destroyed, manifestations of diabetes insipidus may not appear (1-3). The administration of cortisone or adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) to patients with anterior pituitary insufficiency led to the recognition of coexisting -nPti1nrnkvnnn'k,%cPn1 fn;l1vtr, (_7\ Thke ^wosn f in that it approaches a condition in which the role of the kidney may be investigated in the human independent of hormonal control. The present study is an attempt at evaluating water metabolism and certain aspects of renal function in two patients with combined anterior pituitary and neurohypophyseal lesions.

Neurohypophyseal Hormones: Novel Actors of Striated Muscle Development and Homeostasis
Since the 1980's, novel functional roles of the neurohypophyseal hormones vasopressin and oxytocin have emerged. Several studies have investigated the effects of these two neurohormones on striated muscle tissues, both in vitro and in vivo. The effects of vasopressin on skeletal myogenic cells, developing muscle and muscle homeostasis have been documented. Oxytocin appears to have a greater inf...

متن کاملO-43: Mutations in NR5A1 Associated withOvarian Insufficiency
Background: The genetic causes of nonsyndromic ovarian insufficiency are largely unknown. A nuclear receptor, NR5A1 (also called steroidogenic factor 1), is a key transcriptional regulator of genes involved in the hypothalamic–pituitary–steroidogenic axis. Mutation of NR5A1 causes 46,XY disorders of sex development, with or without adrenal failure, but growing experimental evidence from studies...
متن کاملMR imaging of the brain in patients with diabetes insipidus.
Diabetes insipidus is a clinical syndrome characterized by the excretion of copious volumes of dilute urine combined with persistent intake of abnormally large quantities of fluid. There are two general forms of the disease, central (vasopressin deficient) and nephrogenic (vasopressin resistant). Diabetes insipidus of central origin most often results from lesions in the hypothalamic-neurohypop...
متن کامل[Anterior pituitary lobe atrophy as late complication of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome].
INTRODUCTION Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is acute infective multisystemic disease followed by febrility, hemorrhages and acute renal insufficiency. Bleeding in the anterior pituitary lobe leading to tissue necrosis occurs in acute stage of severe clinical forms of HFRS, while atrophy of the anterior pituitary lobe with diminution of the gland function occurs after recovery stag...
